Europe or Bust!: Roma, Italia Day 2

Our second day in Rome was full of sunshine.  The snow was still around but it was a lot warmer and the forecast was clear for the day.  Our day 2 plans were to see things that we didn't get to see like Piazza Navona and the Pantheon but we made trips to the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, and the Spanish steps to see them in the sunlight.

We walked through this little park on our way to the Colosseum.  It was a nice sunny day so a lot of people were out and about.  We tried the Colosseum again since it was the last day we would be able to get inside the Colosseum but since it had snowed the day before they closed the inside for safety.  We were really bummed about that but the weather was nice so we forged on.

The park was dotted with little fountains.

After we walked past the Colosseum, they had closed the main street linking the Colosseum with other must see sights for foot traffic.  So we meandered toward Piazza Navona on the street.

Ruins pop up all over Rome.  It is a pleasant surprise.  So much history :)

Column shards

Columns

Wela was sitting on a bench that looked like a downed column.

We think this is the Capitol building.  It was magnificent.

Tucked between rows of buildings and narrow streets we found the Pantheon.

The Pantheon is in the middle of this square full of bustling cafes and huge crowds.  There is so much going on around you and yet it is peaceful.

Here's the inside of the Pantheon

That skylight is open and when it rains/snows it comes right inside the Pantheon

Little cars like these are all over Italy.

Piazza Navona a square built on ancient Domitian's Stadium.

Fountana dei Quattro Fiumi: Fountain of the four rivers...This is in the middle of Piazza Navona.  It is modeled after the Gange, the Nile, the Danube, and the Rio della Plata.

There was a small play in the middle of the square.

We found Giolitti's and got some delicious Gelato!

We found a very sunny Trevi fountain.

Four smart cars in a row...squeezed tightly together

Sitting in the sun on the Spanish steps

Church at the top of the Spanish steps

Pick-pockets!!! I saw a video on pick-pockets on the internet before we left and we saw this group of women doing the exact same thing on the Spanish steps...It was crazy!

We went to a McDonald's by the Spanish steps so we could use the bathroom and write out all of our postcards.  It was the nicest McDonald's I have ever seen!!! If we had McDonald's like these in the States I would hang out there all the time.

I loved these little trucks!

The Trevi fountain at night is a sight to see! It is beautiful all lit up!

The Colosseum all lit-up!

Every time we took the elevator to our the floor of our BnB the elevator would jerk up and down and this was the face I made every single time.

The biggest elevator of our whole Europe trip.

Our last day in Rome was great! The sun was shining the whole day and we stayed out until the night to capture pictures of everything lit up one last time.

We got back to the apartment to rest for a spell until dinner time at I Porchettoni ;)
